The accelerated B.S. in Retailing and Consumer Science and the M.S. in Global Retailing program is open to qualified undergraduate Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences students wishing to continue their education at the graduate level immediately upon completion of the B.S. degree. Students may take up to nine graduate-level credits in Global Retailing that will apply to both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees. This will reduce the total number of undergraduate/graduate credit hours required to complete both degrees.
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
A student wishing to enroll in the accelerated program should submit a petition to the Human Development and Consumer Sciences Department during their junior year.
Applications are due:
- December 1 for taking courses in the Spring term
- June 1 for taking courses in the Fall term
Minimum eligibility requirements:
- Junior standing and completion of 30 semester hours of Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences coursework
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in overall course work
- Minimum 3.2 GPA in overall Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences coursework
Since the student is an undergraduate with remaining upper-division coursework, acceptance into the Accelerated Program does not constitute automatic admission to the graduate program.
Admission to the Graduate Program
Students enrolled in the accelerated program must complete the graduate application process before formal admission to graduate school. The admission committee reviews the entire application when making an admission decision.
Additional information about accepted applicants:
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree equivalent
- Achieved a 3.00 GPA on the last 60 hours of the B.S. degree
- Achieved a 3.00 GPA on all graduate-level courses taken since entering the Accelerated Program
- Test scores must be official and no more than five years old. The average score of an accepted applicant for the GRE is 300 for Quantitative and Verbal sections combined and 3.5 on the Analytical section; 550 for the GMAT; 400 on the MAT. There are no minimum test scores.
